I took the Potsdam tour today. Potsdam is a city about 20 minutes outside of Berlin by train and is where the ruling German/Prussian families had their homes. We same Frederick the Great's vacation home - San Soucci and I got to put a potato on his grave (he is credited with bringing potatoes to Germany), the smaller but older Brandenburg Gate, house where the Potsdam conference was held and the decision to drop the A-Bomb (it is now a hotel - I want to some day come back and stay) among other things. I enjoyed Potsdam b/c it is less city-ish and more me - beautiful gardens and rivers. Plus, we saw where the spy exchanges usually happened between the US and Russia. Over all, amazing tour!
Can back to the hostel and then walked through Western Berlin, near my hostel, where I found a fabulous Asian restaurant - I am going to try Asian food in each city I go to in order to see whether it is the same as in America or different.
After dinner, walked through a cometary - beautiful but I almost got locked in - luckily the guard let me out:-) Back at the hostel now for an early night. Heading to Paris tomorrow and I have an early train at 8Ö30a.m. Pray my alarm goes off correctly and I am good to go.
On to Paris although Berlin has been delightful.
