Today has been an interested and amazing day. I woke up on the overnight train - an interesting experience - can definitely get used to it - wish we had these in America - one's that are as efficient.
Reached my hostel - much better than I thought. Located on the Landwehr Canal - beautiful at night. It is freezing here in Berlin - 6 degrees celsius so I then spent about 1 hour tracking down a department store to buy a jacket. I've discovered that no one in the Potsdammer Platz train station speaks english but did find someone at the Lego museum - a museum dedicated to Legos - they had einstein's face made out of lego's and his eyes moved - prettz cool.
I had lunch at Vapiano's - I'd eaten at one before in Ft. Myers so that was nice. Then on to the "welcome to munich" tour which was awesome. Saw the Brandenburg Gate, Check Point Charlie, universitz where Einstein taught and Lennon was a student, Museum Island, Reighstag and tons more. I love these free tours - did one in Munich and now Berlin and planning on doing one in Paris.
Once that was over, came back to my hostel - sooooo cold. Grabbed dinner at an Ethiopian restaurant. I had ghanan banana beer, garlic soup and this beef-pancake dinner -- it was amazing and I want to find a place like it in Atlanta.
Turning in for the night b/c I'm exhausted and my body is tired from all this walking - not used to it.
Tomorrow going to the Pergomen museum to see the Babzlonian gates and Nephertier's bust. Reallz looking forward to it!
Guten nacht!

So I failed you when it came to guessing the weather and packing appropriately. Sorry! Hope there was a coat that matched your wardrobe! Sounds like you are having an absolute blast so far!
ReplyDeleteTrying to send comments but they are not showing up. Dad and computers (oil and water). Sounds like you are having a grand time. Stay safe. Love Dad
ReplyDeleteNo worries Blair. I managed to find a department store and get a jacket and I've been wearing it ever since. It made my first day interesting and I now know where a good mall is in Berlin - always good to know!
ReplyDeleteDad, if it makes you feel better, my friend Carrie had to set this up for me and show me how to use it so you are ahead of me with figuring it out.
And I'm SOOOO proud of you for using it! I love hearing about all the places you're going and the things you are doing!! XOXOXO
